The North Texas NDTA was treated to a presentation on a few of the points contained in Howard Berg’s collection on how to learn anything 100% faster.  The presentation was informative and full of useful ways to take in information in more efficient ways.  Here are a few photos from the event.


National NDTA Distinguished Service Awards

 The NDTA Distinguished Service Awards recognize active members for their unusual and commendable service, dedication, and assistance in furthering the aims and objectives of the association. This year the North Texas NDTA has two award winners, Cheryl Silvis and Stephen Bullard. Both continue to serve on the board, Stephen is a member for 10 years and has served on the board as President for 3 terms. Cheryl serve on the board as Secretary and continues provide leadership to the organization.

NDTA Lunch and Learn for October- Kate Pison, Interstate Batteries

North Texas NDTA was honored to host Kate Pison, Director Global Transportation for Interstate Batteries on the 19th. Introducing Kate is Rhonda Moon, President for the North Texas NDTA to the Executive Conference Room at the Exchange. Kate’s topic for the meeting is Regional Distribution Centers  (RDC) verses centralized Distribution Centers (DC) and the effect on cost and servicing customer orders.

NDTA Visits FedEx Express Alliance HUB

NDTA continues to provide opportunities for Industry professional to visit and view some of the regions key transportation facilities. FedEx Alliance Hub operation is no exception. Located at the Alliance Airport this facility support FedEx operations for Fort Worth and West Texas. This hub is a full package sorting facility like the Memphis Global Hub. This facility manages 25 flights per night and over 200 trucks servicing 16 domestic and international markets. Some interesting facts:

  • This ramp facility sits on 39 acres
  • 6.3 miles of conveyor belts
  • it is 1,000,000 sq. ft.
  • The sort handles 22,500 boxes per hour
  • The small parcel sort handles 47,500 documents per hour

Kate Pison – is Director of Global Logistics for Interstate Batteries. She is an experienced logistics veteran with a demonstrated history of working in the consumer goods industry.   She has taken Interstate Battery supply chain to a new level by adding regional consolidation points.   Learn more by attending the NDTA Luncheon October 19

After serving 3 years in the US Army as a medic, Kate graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Geoscience and started her logistics carrier with Roadway Express. Over the next decade Kate gained manufacturing experience in the tire industry as Operations Manager for Bridgestone and Titan tire, returning to logistics with Target Stores. In this role she was responsible for domestic transportation and peak season planning & earned an MBA in Supply Chain Management from Carlson School, University of Minnesota before leaving Minneapolis. To obtain additional education from the carrier side, Kate headed up dedicated operations for Western Express and had a dry van sales territory. She returned to the shipper side with Dr Pepper Snapple Group and then Lennox International with dedicated fleet and domestic freight responsibilities. Kate currently is Director of Global Transportation for Interstate Batteries, responsible for domestic and international freight & distribution.

Kate has participated in numerous panels and customer advisory boards such as CSCMP, FTR Annual Conference, Union Pacific Shipper Conference, and various carrier advisory boards. Topics have included Intermodal conversion strategies, freight collaboration between shippers, dedicated fleet tactics, and general state of the industry opinions.

2017 AUSA Wounded Warrior Golf Classic

The North Texas – Audie Murphy Chapter of the Association of the United States Army. AUSA Wounded Warrior Golf Classic is being held at Brookhaven Country Club on Tuesday October 17, 2017. The North Texas NDTA is joining the event supporting our aligned association for this outstanding event.
